The A947 is the inland Aberdeen–Banff road: airport and Dyce at the south, then Newmachar, Oldmeldrum, Fyvie, Turriff and into Banff. It is a different spine from the A90 and from the AWPR. Breakdowns cluster on the Oldmeldrum bypass stretches, the Fyvie bends, and the last miles into Turriff where agricultural traffic meets the town. The Fraserburgh truck is not sitting in Dyce. Depending where you are, we come via Turriff from the north or via the A90/AWPR from the south. “A947 toward Banff” or “A947 toward Aberdeen” plus the last village is what turns a pin into a plan.
