Car recovery.Your questions.
Find the answer on cost, breakdowns, locked wheels, accident recovery, service-van help, transport and club jobs.

My car has broken down. How do I get recovery?
Call 01224 044741. Tell us your location, registration, what has happened and where the car needs to go. Mention anything that affects loading, such as locked wheels, accident damage or a car that is stuck in gear. We confirm availability, the arrival estimate and price.
Is DSBM car recovery available 24/7?
Yes. Our recovery line takes calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call for urgent help. The team confirms current availability and an arrival estimate for your exact location.
How quickly can you get to me?
We target a local recovery response within 30 minutes where location and availability allow. We are based in Fraserburgh. Aberdeen, rural locations and longer journeys need an estimate for that specific callout; the 30-minute target is not a promise everywhere.
Do you recover cars in Aberdeen?
Yes. We take car recovery enquiries across Aberdeen, including city streets, homes, workplaces and garage transfers. Send the street or a pin, any access restriction and the destination. We confirm the journey from our Fraserburgh base when you call.
Do you cover Aberdeenshire and rural roads?
Yes. Local enquiries include Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Ellon, Inverurie, Turriff, Banff, Huntly and surrounding areas. On a rural road or farm, the right entrance and a map pin are especially helpful. Search the coverage directory for your area.
Can you collect my car from home or work?
Yes. Tell us whether the car starts, rolls and steers, where it is parked and whether access is restricted. Include gates, barriers, tight drives or underground parking so we can assess the collection before arriving.
Should I call, WhatsApp or use the quote form?
Call for an urgent breakdown or accident. WhatsApp is useful for registration details, photos and a location pin. The online quote service is the direct route for a planned vehicle movement. A message or quote request is not a confirmed dispatch.
How do I send my location?
Choose My location to request a map link from your phone, then check and copy or share it. Nothing is sent to DSBM until you choose a sharing option. If GPS is unavailable, tell us the road, direction of travel, nearest junction or postcode.
What if I am in immediate danger?
Call 999 if there is immediate danger. Once you are in a safe position, contact DSBM to discuss recovery. Give the exact road and direction of travel, and tell us whether emergency services are already attending.
How much does car recovery cost?
Your quote depends on the collection and delivery points, vehicle, condition, timing and loading requirements. Send both postcodes and explain whether it rolls and steers. We confirm the price for the actual job before arranging recovery.
Why can a smaller recovery setup cost less?
For a suitable load, a 4×4 and transporter can have lower operating costs than sending a much larger recovery truck. Our service van may also resolve a suitable roadside problem without transport. The right equipment and your actual job determine the quote.
Can your setup do the same work as a 16-tonne truck?
There is an overlap for suitable vehicle movements, but the equipment has different limits. Heavy vehicles, lifting requirements and some accident positions need larger or specialist equipment. We assess weight, condition and access before agreeing the recovery method.
Do locked wheels or accident damage affect the price?
They can. A car that cannot roll may need recovery skates, winching, additional preparation or specialist equipment. Photos and a clear description help us assess the work and quote properly.
Do I need a membership to use DSBM?
No. You can enquire about recovery, service-van help or transport without a membership. If you are a member, tell us when you contact us so we can check the vehicle and the terms of your plan.
Can I book a planned collection instead of an urgent callout?
Yes. Use the online quote service for planned car collections and deliveries. Include both postcodes, the vehicle condition and preferred date. Availability and the booking details are agreed before the movement.
Can you recover a car that will not start?
Yes, subject to the vehicle and collection conditions. Tell us if it rolls, steers, comes out of gear and has a working parking-brake release. If a battery or starting fault may suit mobile assistance, we can discuss that option first.
Can you recover a car with locked wheels?
We use recovery skates and suitable winching for assessed jobs with locked wheels or awkward loading. Tell us which wheels are affected, the parking-brake condition and the space around the car. Send photographs before we confirm the method.
Can you move an automatic or electric car?
Tell us the exact model, whether it powers on and whether it can select neutral or a transport mode. The manufacturer guidance, wheel condition and loading requirements determine the suitable method. Do not assume it can simply be towed on its driven wheels.
Can you recover a lowered or modified car?
We welcome enquiries for low and modified cars. Send the model, approximate clearance and pictures of the front, side and wheels. We assess the loading angle, access and suitable equipment before accepting the job.
Can you collect a car after an accident?
Yes, where the recovery can be assessed and arranged safely. Call with the location, damage, wheel condition and chosen destination. Tell us about emergency services, any hold or collection restriction and who is authorised to release the vehicle.
What if a wheel or suspension arm is damaged?
Tell us exactly what is damaged and send photos. A missing wheel, broken suspension or a car that will not roll needs a specific loading plan and may require different equipment from a routine collection.
Can you recover a car from a field or off-road position?
We assess off-road recovery enquiries from the position, ground, access and vehicle condition. Send a location pin and wide photographs showing the surroundings. The recovery method depends on the conditions and suitable equipment.
Can you deliver my car to my chosen garage?
Yes. Confirm that the garage will accept it, supply the address and give us the receiving contact and opening arrangements. Tell us about keys, authorisation and any requirement for an out-of-hours handover.
Can you collect from a bodyshop, insurer or recovery yard?
Yes, by arrangement. We need collection authority, the vehicle reference, condition, access and release arrangements. Tell us about a hold or restriction before booking. The receiving site must agree to the handover.
Can the service van replace my battery?
Yes. Send your registration, location and symptoms so we can check the correct battery, stock, access and fitting requirements. We confirm parts, visit availability and the price before arranging the job.
Can you check a flat battery or charging problem?
We take enquiries for battery and charging checks, slow starting and repeated flat batteries. Tell us the vehicle and what happened. Testing can help decide whether a jump start, replacement battery or further repair is appropriate.
Do you offer mobile car diagnostics?
Yes. The service van offers diagnostics using our TOPDON Phoenix Lite 2 equipment for suitable vehicles and checks. Tell us the warning light, symptoms and whether the car starts and drives. Findings guide the next step; some faults need a workshop.
Does clearing a fault code fix the problem?
No. A fault code is information for the investigation. Clearing it does not repair the cause. We explain the findings and discuss any further checks or repairs needed for the symptoms.
Can you jump-start my car?
We offer suitable jump-start assistance. Give us the registration, location and starting symptoms. If the battery or charging system has another problem, further checks or recovery may be needed.
Can you help if I have run out of fuel?
We take fuel-assistance enquiries. Tell us your exact location, vehicle and the correct fuel type. Availability, attendance and fuel arrangements are confirmed for the job.
Can you help with a flat tyre?
Ask about fitting your suitable spare wheel where access and working conditions allow. Tell us whether you have the spare, locking key and the space needed. The current service-van offer does not include mobile tyre supply and fitting.
Do you move cars long distances?
Yes. Planned UK car and vehicle transport is part of DSBM. Send collection and delivery postcodes, the vehicle condition and preferred dates for a quote.
Do you cover Northern Ireland and Ireland?
Northern Ireland and Ireland routes are by arrangement. We need both locations, vehicle details and the intended date so we can discuss route, collection and delivery arrangements.
Can you collect a car I have bought privately or at auction?
Yes, subject to suitability and availability. Provide the vehicle details, condition, seller or auction release information, collection slot and delivery address. Make sure the vehicle is ready and authorised for collection.
Do you move classic cars and motorcycles?
We welcome enquiries for classic, enthusiast and suitable motorcycle transport. Tell us the vehicle, condition, access and any special handling needs. Trailer choice and loading arrangements are agreed for the job.
Is DSBM part of the APEX network?
Yes. DSBM is a member of the APEX network. For a network or club job, provide the job reference, vehicle, location, authorisation, destination and the person coordinating the handover.
Do you work with car clubs?
Yes. We work closely with clubs on recovery and vehicle movement enquiries. Contact us about the vehicle, locations, date and any event or collection restrictions so we can discuss what is needed.
Does club or insurance membership mean the job is free?
Not automatically. Your club, insurer or assistance provider must confirm authorisation and what they cover. Tell us the job reference and agreed arrangements. Any payment or additional work must be clear before booking.
Is the DSBM app available on iPhone?
Yes. DSBM Recovery has launched for iPhone. It brings recovery requests, transport quotes, location sharing, membership and vehicle details, notifications and direct contact together. Downloading the app is free; services and membership have separate charges.
Do Android users need the app to get help?
No. Android users can call, WhatsApp, use the online quote service or open the membership portal in their browser. You do not need to install an app to contact DSBM for recovery.
