Describe access as well as the vehicle
Give us a map pin as well as the nearest road or village; a rural postcode may cover a large area. Tell us about the nearest cleared road, steep or untreated approaches, narrow gates and drifting snow. Say whether the vehicle is on a public road, farm access or private land, and who can authorise access.
Explain where the vehicle is resting
Is it on a slope, against a bank, in a ditch or resting on its underside? Tell us the make and model, whether it is carrying a load, whether all wheels turn and whether the steering works. Mention any attempts already made to move it. Wide photos taken from a safe position help us assess the ground and approach.
Wait for a workable recovery plan
Weather, traction and visibility can limit access or delay attendance. We discuss the current situation before agreeing an extraction. If there is immediate danger to anyone, contact emergency services first.
Think about the journey afterwards
Tell us if the wheels, steering or underside may have been damaged. If the vehicle cannot safely continue after extraction, suitable onward transport can be included in the arrangements.
What the snow recovery price covers
The price can include the snow call-out, travel mileage and the pull-out work. Ground conditions, access, extraction time and equipment affect what is needed. Onward transport to a garage or another destination is a separate part of the job to discuss.
