Winter conditions can leave a vehicle stuck even when it has not broken down. DSBM assesses snow recovery, snow pull-outs and suitable off-road extractions across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Tell us where the vehicle is, what has happened and how we can reach it.

Winter recovery for the situation you are in

We assess cars, vans and 4x4s stuck in snow, at an icy roadside or beyond a rural access road. The approach, vehicle position and ground underneath the snow determine the equipment and recovery plan.

If the vehicle has lost grip but remains on the road, tell us about any gradient and passing traffic. If it has left the road, explain whether it is upright, leaning, damaged or resting on its underside. These need different plans.

Our winter recovery area & arrival estimates

We cover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Mintlaw, Ellon, Inverurie, Turriff and Banff, plus surrounding villages and suitable rural access roads.

Your arrival estimate starts from wherever our recovery vehicle is working. Snow, ice, blocked roads, visibility and current jobs affect the route and timing. Call for the current position and a realistic winter ETA; access cannot be guaranteed during severe weather.

A clear quote for extraction and any onward journey

The price depends on travel, access, the extraction required, equipment, time and whether the vehicle can move safely afterwards. A roadside pull-out and a damaged vehicle in a ditch are different jobs.

Tell us if you need transport home or to a garage. We discuss the proposed work and charges before you agree, including onward transport where required. If conditions change or extra work is needed, we discuss that with you.

You can contact DSBM directly to ask about a recovery without a breakdown membership. Read our recovery without cover guide for the details to have ready.

Request snow recovery: what to send

  • Your map pin, road name or nearest junction, and a callback number.
  • Vehicle registration, make and model, and whether it is a car, van or 4x4.
  • Wide photos of the vehicle position and approach, taken only if safe.
  • Whether the vehicle rolls and steers, and any visible damage or warning lights.
  • Snow depth, slope, narrow gates, road closures and any access restrictions.
  • Your preferred destination if the vehicle needs onward transport.

Use the snow recovery request page to send your details, or WhatsApp photos to 07475 722702. For urgent help, call 01224 044741. Sending a request does not confirm a booking or dispatch.

Road conditions before the recovery

Tell us about a closed road, deep drifts or a route that has become impassable. We assess the approach rather than assuming the shortest route is open. Check Traffic Scotland for traffic and travel information, and follow any road closure or police instructions.

If anyone is injured, trapped or in immediate danger, call 999. Take photos or share a location only from a safe place. A DSBM request is assessed before dispatch and does not replace the emergency services.

Winter recovery questions

Is DSBM available for snow recovery 24/7?

Our recovery line is available 24/7. We assess each winter call against the vehicle position, access, road conditions and available equipment before confirming the work.

Do you cover Aberdeen as well as rural Aberdeenshire?

Yes. We assess snow and ice recovery in Aberdeen and across Aberdeenshire, including Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Mintlaw, Ellon, Inverurie, Turriff and Banff. Severe weather can limit access.

Can you guarantee a 30–60 minute arrival in snow?

No. A winter ETA depends on where the recovery vehicle is working, current jobs, snow, ice and the available route. Call for an estimate for your exact location.

Does a snow recovery request confirm the recovery vehicle is on its way?

No. We first assess your location, vehicle and access, then confirm availability, the recovery plan and price with you.
