A snow pull-out helps move a stranded vehicle back to a suitable accessible surface. Before arranging the work, we need to understand the vehicle position, the approach and what is underneath the snow. Send a pin and wide photos if it is safe to do so.

Drifts, driveways, farm entrances & rural tracks

We assess vehicles stuck in snow at private driveways, farm entrances, suitable tracks, car parks and road edges. A short distance from the main road can still involve a steep slope, a narrow gate or soft ground hidden under the snow.

Tell us the nearest accessible road, whether it has been cleared and whether there is space to approach the vehicle. For private land, arrange the owner’s permission and let us know about locked gates, livestock or site restrictions.

If the vehicle has slipped into a ditch or onto an unstable verge, use our ditch and verge recovery page. That may need a different extraction plan from a straight pull-out.

We assess the pull before arranging the job

Tell us whether the wheels are spinning, buried or unable to turn, and whether the vehicle is resting on its underside. Include its make, model, approximate load and whether any recovery attempts have already been made.

The slope, available working space, ground condition and vehicle weight affect the method and equipment. We will assess whether a suitable winching or recovery approach is possible. A 4x4 can also become stranded; its badge alone does not establish whether it can drive out.

Avoid repeated attempts that dig the vehicle further in. Speak to us before arranging another pull, and stay clear of any recovery operation.

Pull-out only, or onward vehicle transport?

Getting clear of the snow is one part of the job. Tell us if you want the vehicle moved to a cleared accessible road, your home or a garage, and whether it can roll and steer after extraction.

If there is wheel, steering or suspension damage, mention it before the call-out. We can assess a suitable onward movement instead of assuming the vehicle is safe to drive. Any onward journey must be included in the work we agree.

What affects a snow pull-out price?

We assess the travel, approach, snow and ground conditions, vehicle position, equipment and time required. The number of vehicles and any transport afterwards also affect the quote.

Send the details before agreeing to a call-out so we can explain the proposed charges. If the position or conditions differ on arrival, or the job needs additional work, we discuss that with you. Read the recovery cost guide for more quote information.

Local snow pull-outs & winter arrival times

We cover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, including Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Mintlaw, Ellon, Inverurie, Turriff and Banff, plus surrounding villages and suitable rural access roads.

Your arrival estimate starts from wherever our recovery vehicle is working. Snow, ice, blocked roads, visibility and current jobs affect the route and timing. Call for the current position and a realistic winter ETA; access cannot be guaranteed during severe weather.

Send these details for a pull-out assessment

  • Your map pin, road name or nearest junction, and a callback number.
  • Vehicle registration, make and model, and whether it is a car, van or 4x4.
  • Wide photos of the vehicle position and approach, taken only if safe.
  • Whether the vehicle rolls and steers, and any visible damage or warning lights.
  • Snow depth, slope, narrow gates, road closures and any access restrictions.
  • Your preferred destination if the vehicle needs onward transport.

If anyone is injured, trapped or in immediate danger, call 999. Take photos or share a location only from a safe place. A DSBM request is assessed before dispatch and does not replace the emergency services.

Winter recovery questions

Can you pull a car out of a snow drift?

We assess suitable snow pull-outs after checking the vehicle position, approach, ground conditions and available equipment. Send the location and photos and call to discuss the job.

Can you recover a van or 4x4 stuck in snow?

We assess cars, vans and 4x4s. Tell us the model, load and exact position so we can check whether our available equipment is suitable.

Can you reach an icy driveway or private farm track?

We assess suitable private access routes with permission. The gradient, gates, snow depth, ground and available working space determine whether we can reach and recover the vehicle.

Is taking my car to a garage included in the pull-out?

Only when onward transport is part of the agreed work. Tell us your destination and whether the car rolls and steers so extraction and transport can be assessed together.
