Coastal A-road west of Fraserburgh

A98 COASTAL RECOVERY.
FROM THE FRASERBURGH END.

The A-road west out of the Broch — harbour towns, exposed straights. Not the A90. Not Moray.

The A98 is Fraserburgh’s coastal A-road west, not the A90. It leaves the Broch through Sandhaven and Pitullie, then Rosehearty, New Aberdour and the Banffshire harbours — Macduff, Banff, Whitehills, Portsoy. Typical breakdown spots are the exposed straights between harbour towns, the climbs in and out of Banff, and the roundabouts at Macduff. DSBM lives at the eastern end of this road, at 2 Fordafourie Cottages. A pin at Sandhaven is minutes from the yard; a pin at Portsoy is an honest coastal run along the same A98, still Aberdeenshire, not a Moray job. We do not treat Fochabers or Elgin as local recovery.

Direction of travel, harbour towns, exposed straights.

Westbound from Fraserburgh you hit Sandhaven first, then Rosehearty; eastbound into the Broch you are coming home toward our yard. The A98 is single carriageway for most of the stretch we cover, with little verge and a lot of wind. If you have already dropped into a harbour street, that is a town access job, not a live-road job — say so. Call 01224 044741 or GPS 07475 722702.

When you call from the A98

Direction of travel, last town (Sandhaven / Rosehearty / Macduff / Banff / Portsoy), whether you are still on the A98 or in a harbour close, registration, and whether it rolls. A photo of a car against a crash barrier or on a harbour lip decides the truck. Marker posts help; a live pin helps more.

Typical breakdown spots

The Sandhaven–Rosehearty strip in onshore weather; the Macduff roundabouts; the Banff climbs; the exposed miles toward Portsoy. Junctions toward Gardenstown and the inland cut to the A97 at Aberchirder are easy to confuse on the phone — name the junction. This page is the road, not a Banff clone.

Breakdown and accident recovery

24/7 from the Fraserburgh end: live-road shunts, non-runners on the straights, harbour vans that failed as they joined the A98. Aberdeenshire-local recovery. Loading follows the verge and the wind.

Booked collection off the A98

If the vehicle is already in a town, use that town page’s access notes and quote both postcodes at quotes.dsbm.uk.

Honest ETA from Fraserburgh

Sandhaven and Rosehearty: home-radius. Macduff/Banff: a mid coastal run. Portsoy: longer, same road, still Aberdeenshire. Live truck position and harbour events stretch it. Time after the pin — we will not quote an Elgin time because we do not sell Elgin as local recovery.
