Start with the manufacturer’s instructions
Towing permissions vary by vehicle and drivetrain. Do not assume selecting neutral makes every towing method suitable. The recovery operator needs the model and relevant handbook transport guidance before deciding how it should move.
Explain what the car can actually do
Can it select neutral, release the parking brake and roll? If it is stuck in park or has lost electrical power, tell us before collection. The loading plan may need skates or other equipment appropriate to its condition.
Loading and road transport are separate stages
Moving a vehicle a short distance for loading is different from towing it along the road. Any release or transport mode must be used within its manufacturer’s limits. Leave model-specific release procedures to someone competent to carry them out.
