A car that will not move can disrupt the whole day, even when it is outside your front door. DSBM can discuss roadside assistance or recovery from your home in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, depending on the vehicle, access and availability.
Explain what the car is doing
Tell us what you noticed, rather than trying to name the fault: does the engine turn over, are warning messages displayed, or is the vehicle unable to move? Let us know whether it has been parked for a long time and whether there is known damage. We cannot diagnose every problem from a message or promise an on-site repair.
Include the registration and make and model. For an electric vehicle, hybrid, automatic or modified car, mention that too. If there is an immediate danger, fire or injury, contact the emergency services.
The driveway and parking space matter
A home address does not tell us whether a recovery vehicle can reach the car. Describe the parking position and the approach to it. Useful details include a steep driveway, low entrance, narrow lane, underground car park or vehicle blocked in by other cars.
- Send the full address and postcode, plus a map pin if the entrance is hard to find.
- Tell us about gates, entry codes and any parking or loading restrictions.
- Confirm whether the keys are available and whether any wheels are locked or damaged.
- Share photos of the vehicle and access if they can be taken safely.
Assistance or a move to the garage?
Some enquiries may be suitable for the DSBM service van; others need recovery to a workshop. Describe the issue and we will discuss the appropriate next step. If you are unsure whether a battery is the cause, say so. An assumed flat battery and a confirmed fault are different starting points.
If the vehicle needs a garage, check that your chosen workshop can receive it. Give us the garage name, address and any booking reference. Tell the workshop that the car is arriving by recovery and describe any access requirements.
Arrange the handover before collection
Agree who will provide the keys at home and who will receive them at the destination. If you cannot be present, tell us before booking so the handover can be discussed. Do not leave keys somewhere based on an assumption.
For a planned collection, use our online quote form with the route and vehicle details. Call 01224 044741 for urgent help. We are based in Fraserburgh and confirm availability and the agreed price for each job.
Your questions, answered.
Can you collect a car that does not start?
Describe the condition, access and whether the wheels are free to move. We can assess the collection and quote for the equipment and work required.
Do I need to know what is wrong with it?
No. Tell us what you have observed and any information already provided by a garage. Avoid guessing: it helps us discuss the right type of assistance.
What if the garage is not open yet?
Check its delivery arrangements first. Read our garage-closed guide and discuss the destination with DSBM before booking; do not assume an unattended drop-off is available.
