This is the abbey village on the A950, which is a different place from New Deer on the A981. Abbey Street, Aden Country Park gates, and the Formartine and Buchan Way paths decide access — coaches and event traffic at Aden change how a recovery truck can stand. Mintlaw’s A952 roundabout is the next junction east. DSBM comes from Fraserburgh, typically A90 to Cortes then A952/A950, not from a Mintlaw depot and not from a van parked at the abbey. If you are inside Aden, we need the car park name and whether the barrier is up.
Abbey Street, Aden and the A950.
Old Deer is small; Aden is not. Park events, the museum yards and the old abbey precinct create height bars, one-way loops and pedestrians that a live recovery has to work around. The A950 toward Longside and Peterhead, and west toward New Pitsligo, is the through-road. Stuartfield (Crichie) is the next village south on the B9030. Call 01224 044741 or GPS to 07475 722702.
When you call from Old Deer
Say Old Deer, not New Deer. Registration, Abbey Street / park / A950 / farm name, whether it rolls, and a photo if you are behind a barrier or on a path the Way shares with walkers. Locked wheels in a park bay are a different job from an A950 shunt at the Mintlaw end.
Park, estate and village access
Aden’s internal roads are not a public dual carriageway. We would rather meet you at a named car park than drag a low loader through a coach loop. Village streets around the abbey pinch. Farm closes toward Pitfour and Stuartfield need a turning warning. There is no harbour here — the “industrial” note is the park service yards and agricultural sheds.
Breakdown and accident recovery
24/7 from Fraserburgh: non-runners on Abbey Street, A950 collisions toward Mintlaw, 4x4s in park grounds after the frost, vans that died on a farm morning. Aberdeenshire-local recovery only. Loading follows the vehicle and the barrier in front of us.
Booked collection
Both postcodes, condition and photos if access is a park or a close: quotes.dsbm.uk. We do not pretend the collection starts from Mintlaw.
Honest ETA from Fraserburgh
A mid-Buchan run: short if the live truck is at Cortes or Peterhead, longer if it is already in Aberdeen. Event traffic at Aden and the A952 Mintlaw roundabout are the usual stretch. Time comes after the pin.
