BBC Scotland News: severe snow response

During extreme snow and drifting around Fraserburgh, DSBM worked continuously to reach stranded motorists and help get people home. Owner Dylan Masson spoke to BBC Scotland News about difficult recoveries, constant calls and friends who helped with jobs the company could not immediately reach.

“We’re just trying to get everyone home and safe and warm.”

Storm Floris: roads cleared through the night

After fallen trees and debris blocked roads across north-east Scotland, DSBM sent three teams out through the night. The crews worked until 5am to help reopen routes before the morning commute, with the community assistance provided without charge.

“It was a real team effort.”

Ford Ranger PHEV experience in Iceland

Dylan was invited to Iceland for a hands-on Ford Ranger PHEV experience. The programme included towing and off-road exercises, giving DSBM an opportunity to assess the pickup from the viewpoint of an operator who regularly works with trailers, 4x4s and vehicle recovery.

Alongside testing what the new electrified Ranger could do, Dylan shared practical feedback from real towing work—and offered a few light-hearted reversing pointers.

Community response is part of the business

DSBM began in 2020, during a period when the team helped move urgent items to people who needed them. Severe-weather recovery and community assistance have remained part of the company’s identity as the operation has expanded.
